Doris Mae Taft, 83, a homemaker from Shelby , passed away Sunday, January 20, 2007, at the Marias Care Center due to natural causes. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, January 25th, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church followed by inurnment in the Valley View Cemetery . Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Levi Taft, of Shelby ; daughter, Julie Taft of Bosie , ID ; sons, Bruce Taft of Shelby, Craig (Carla) Taft of Hardin and Doug Taft of Conrad; sister, Norma Hackbarth of Quincy , IL ; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Jim & Norman Wagner.

Doris was born June 19, 1924 Wisconsin to Carl and Helen (Henke) Wagner at Wausau where she was raised and educated.

She and Levi Taft were married July 3, 1946 at Kalispell. They lived on the family farm south of Devon before moving into a new home in Shelby in 1957 while continuing to farm for many years.

Doris was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.  She was also active in the Circle Bible Study Group, Home Demonstration Club and was Girl Scout leader. She was a great cook and loved taking meals out to the harvest crews. She also enjoyed cross country skiing, boating, working in her yard, growing flowers and working around the farm.
