Myrtle was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Larry, in 1970; and her only child, Barry, in 1977. She was also predeceased by seven brothers, three sisters, and their spouses. She is lovingly remembered by two grand-daughters, Shauna Reichman and Shay Dunn and families, both of Utah; as well as four nieces and three nephews and families, Floyd (Eleanor) Snertland, Eleanor (Newell) Mann, Vi (Bill) Beisterfeldt, Lorne Ayers, Gordon (Myrna) Ayers, Laine Ayers all of Alberta, Canada, and Phyllis Dogopol of British Columbia; as well as a niece-in-law, Mabel Snortland and a grand-niece, Peggy (Ole) Olson of Oshkosh, WI. Myrtle was born April 14, 1912 to Peder and Hannah ( Holland ) Snortland of Pendant d’Orielle, Alberta . She grew up in Alberta and attended one year at Prairie Bible College at Three Hills , Alberta . She and her husband lived in Orion and Lethbridge before settling in the States. Myrtle was a cook in various restaurants in both Canada and the States. Myrtle lived in her own home until age 90 when she became a resident at the Glacier Care Center where she has received the finest of care. Myrtle was a member of the Toastmasters Club which she loved, even having won a speaking award. She was a creative person, liked and enjoyed the finer things in life, had a love for music and loved to dress up. Myrtle was usually a very upbeat person who loved to change things and really enjoyed her gazebo. She also had a love for animals – especially cats! Life for Myrtle was not easy having faced many hardships and disappointments, yet she held on to her faith and remained strong. Her grand-daughter, Shay, said of her grandmother that she was a beautiful, unselfish and very giving person seeing God in everyday things giving and giving even when being taken advantage of. |
