James (Jim) Carroll Brooks, 84, a retired salesman and US Army Veteran from Cut Bank passed away Wednesday ( May 13th) at the Glacier Care Center due to natural causes. Visitation is Saturday (May 16th) 1:00 until 4:00 PM at the Whitted Funeral Chapel in Cut Bank.

Survivors include his daughter Cayla (Andy) Schafer of Cut Bank; 2 grandchildren & 2 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Kathryn

He was born March 23, 1925 at St. Johns, Illinois to Joseph K. & Alice T. (Lively) Brooks and grew up at DuQuoin, IL. He later served in the US Army during WW2.

He married Kathryn JoAnn Hamilton Aug. 9, 1947 at Coeur d’ Alane, Idaho and moved to Montana in the early 50’s and resided in the Browning and East Glacier area, where he worked as a salesman in Glacier County and the surrounding area for many years. He moved to Cut Bank in 2000.

In his early years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and in later years he looked forward to his son-in-law delivering him his paper.  He loved his family and friends and going to the mountains.
